            Name
My name is composed of three parts or syllables and each has its own song: Mi, Kha, El. I feel that the song of the first part of my name is coming to an end since I started living in Istanbul. Now, the song of ‘Kha’ is starting.

‘Mi’ sounds like an ascending tone, with ‘M’ symbolising something stable and grounded and ‘iiii’ stretching and pushing it to the limits. Feels like some solid part of me was stretched and pushed in all directions and sometimes with big deviations from my way. It was both traumatising and exciting.

‘Kha’ might be a sound of stillness or slight expansion, maybe drifting in a new direction, but definately in a slow way.

And probably these two tracks are being clumsily mixed.
            Story
I was born and grew up in Russia. In Moscow and its countryside to be precise. I do not know Russia and I am afraid of this country. But curious to explore it sometime. I published an essay about Russia.

I feel that growing up there (sometimes) gives you a certain perspective on the world. I guess it’s like travelling to outer space and then everything on Earth seems a bit different. It’s the scale of this land that produces this effect.

I studied history. It was interesting but almost locked me up in some old wardrobe with dusty rules and rigid metal structures inside.

I like to explore anarchism, shock of life, being lost in gloomy woods and I do so through my photographs and films.
